An Assistant Superintendent of Police, a Detective Sergeant and four other ranks from Regional Division #3 were conducting a vehicular patrol in Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, at about 7.45 pm on Friday when they nabbed a man who was found to be in possession of 69.3 grams of marijuana.
As the Police patrol vehicle approached the ‘Famo’ shop, a man on seeing the Police vehicle, started to run to the back of the yard.
Ranks gave chase and caught up with the man who had a haversack on his back. The ranks searched the haversack in the man’s presence where a quantity of suspected cannabis was found in several ziploc bags.
He was told of the allegation and cautioned and he replied, saying: “I does just do a fine thing”.
The suspect, whose name was given as Naasson Henry, age 23, of Vauxhall Canal #1 Polder, was arrested and escorted to La Grange Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and it amounted to 69.3 grams.
The man was placed in custody, pending further investigation. He is slated to be charged.
