West Demerara powerhouse Slingerz FC completed their return to the GFF Elite League, defeating Victoria Kings 1-0 yesterday in the playoff eliminator at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Another disjointed offensive performance threatened to derail the West Demerara outfit, who were required to contest the eliminator after losing in the final of the GFF Playoff Championship to Monedderlust of Berbice 1-0.
However, Simeon Moore ensured that a repetition of the aforesaid result did not materialise, as he scored in the 54th minute. Racing into the right side of the penalty area, Moore, who is better known for his defensive prowess, uncorked a powerful right-footed shot into the lower left corner.
With the win, Slingerz, who was the inaugural winner of the Elite League, will now compete in the 2024 edition, which is pencilled to commence in February.
