Deleep Singh re-elected unopposed as ECB President

Over the past weekend, the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) held its elections and incumbent Deleep Singh was re-elected as President of the board. He ran unopposed.

Meanwhile, the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) issued  congratulations to Singh on his re-election late on Monday evening.

According to the release, Singh’s fellow CWI Director and President of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Bissoondyal Singh in addition to GCB CEO Claude Raphael were present at the elections.

The ECB’s newly-elected body has national senior selector Royan Fredericks as its Vice-Oresident while Ernesto De Mattos and Mustapha Zaman were named Zone Vice-Presidents for Zones one and two. 

In other roles, Mirenda Cornelius is the new Secretary, while long-time national youth manager Nazeer Mohamed is her Assistant. Rooplall Looknauth has been appointed Treasurer, with Adjodha Lall as his deputy. 

Basil Persaud will take up the role of Public Relations Officer while Kumar Dass is the Marketing Manager. 

Former national youth cricketer, Yogeshwar Lall will serve as the new Chairman of the Competitions Committee with Janice Griffith and Khemraj Surujpaul serving as Trustees of the ECB. 

The auditors of the ECB are now PKF Barcellos/Narine Chartered Accountants.

In the release to the media, GCB noted that “Singh maintained that development is one of the main goals of the ECB, highlighting more emphasis on young women as another key area the board will continue to develop. Near future plans to complete the renovation work at the Cricket Hostel in Essequibo, while forging better/new relationships with members across the neighboring islands, were among goals discussed by the ECB head”.
