Police Academy’s first ‘Junior Leader’ course underway

The Guyana Police Force on Monday morning commenced its First Junior Leader course at the Officers’ Training Centre (OTC) on Camp Road, Georgetown.

This initiative serves as part of the Guyana Police Forces’ vision, through the Police Force Academy, to continuously train and equip ranks with the best practices to meet contemporary security demands.

A release from the Guyana Police Force said that the courses will further provide development opportunities that enhance knowledge, and develop skills which will in turn enrich the organisation. Also, it will build capacity and equip the participants with the knowledge needed to work effectively and efficiently at the next level independently.

Some of those in training

The release said that the courses include compulsory topics like: Homicide, Inquest, Assault and Bodily Harm, Abduction, Kidnapping and other related offences, Larceny, Burglary, Forgery, Battle Stealing, Noise Nuisance and Domestic Violence which are all prevalent offences.

Force Training Officer, Woman Superintendent Sonia Herbert, gave brief remarks and an overview of the courses.
