Four programmes were on Friday launched at the Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) and around 40 residents from Kitty were in attendance.

Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton joined Kwame McCoy, Minister within the Prime Minister’s Office, and Charles Ramson Jr., Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport, in launching the four training programmes at the GITC.

Richard Maughn, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) and  Rohan Bishop, Earl Pestano and Jason Clarke, Technical Officers of BIT, among other officials were also in attendance.

A release from the Ministry of Labour said that BIT will facilitate the four-month programmes, which attracted over 40 Kitty residents and cover Heavy-Duty Equipment Operation, Electrical Installation, Welding and Fabrication, and Plumbing.

The launch came just days after President Irfaan Ali, accompanied by other Government ministers, undertook a ministerial outreach in Kitty, where he pledged to improve the lives of residents through vocational training programmes.

Hamilton and other government ministers paid a follow-up visit to determine people’s interest in the training programmes available to them.
