A team of US Army advisors assigned to the 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) are in Guyana to facilitate knowledge exchange and leadership training with the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).
A statement yesterday from the US Embassy said that during the training, the SFAB will advise and assess the operations of the GDF training corps and engineer battalion, maintenance, and warehouse operations. These engagements are a part of SFAB’s ongoing efforts to build capacity and capability with security force partners in Guyana and the region. The United States continues to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening the enduring security partnership with Guyana, the statement said.
In recent months, the GDF has stepped up defence co-operation with the US and other partners in the backdrop of heightened Venezuelan aggression.
