In an unprecedented move, local Guyanese footballer Threvon Pluck has grabbed the attention of three top-flight Panamanian clubs: Alianza Football Club, Umecit FC, and Club Deportivo Universitario.
The clubs are all part of Liga Panameña de Fútbol, the top tier of the Panamanian football pyramid.
The 23-year-old footballer, who hails from Lodge in Georgetown, was on a week-long trial recently in that country after he departed Guyana in December. If all goes according to plan, Pluck will be the first Guyanese player to take to the pitch in the Panamanian league.
Currently, representatives from the Alianza Football Club, Umecit FC, and Club Deportivo Universitario are all in discussions to secure the talented player.
Pluck’s opportunity was made possible by a new football club, Lucozade Genesis, which was recently formed by young sports enthusiast Michael Richmond.
