Dear Editor,
I was exceedingly disturbed by the news in the Sports pages in newspapers of the ongoing boxing competition among our Under-16 children. Boxing has caused so much harm to the adults who have suffered terribly in their physical makeup, resulting in serious and permanent injury and even death, that I am sure that there are many of us who would like to see this violent activity discontinued once and for all. Now that this brutality has been passed down to our younger men, who would be so much more susceptible to injury and even death, so that others may enjoy it as a sport, I would like to see an abrupt end to this viciousness. I am now calling on the boxing organisations, as well as the governing authorities who are in charge of these, to attend to this matter urgently.
