Dear Editor,
Last Sunday, I visited the local cricket group at Success ECD. There were several young men sitting around and playing aimlessly with their bicycles.
I enquired if they had any cricket matches or competition arranged for the near future.
Last week, I watched the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport talking about his large budget and how many cricket grounds they are grading. I wonder if he knows the importance of giving these young men hope, challenges and motivation to make meaningful contributions with their lives. Not tomorrow, but today!
This Ministry could organize more cricket, basketball and soccer tournaments between schools, villages and regions. Arrange concerts, plays and shows to stimulate the minds of our youth.
Nope. It seems like the government has decided that the populace must sacrifice now…in order to enjoy the fruits and blessings of our country, tomorrow.
Someday, they will be shocked to know that – roads, buildings and cricket grounds do not vote!
