To modernise and improve accessibility to training and upskilling opportunities, the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) recently met with representatives from the US-based online learning platform, Coursera.
The company was represented by the Head of Government Partnerships for Ibero-America and Account Manager Mateo Samper, Principal Solution Consultant Nicole Amaral, Implementation Manager Manuela Histrenoza, and Customer Success Manager, Jeff Kaplan.
A release from the Ministry of Labour said that the meeting centred around discussing avenues for partnerships between the two companies, including customised programmes, tailoring self-paced courses for participants, tuning courses to ensure completion, time-bound licences to ensure utilisation among participants, and exploring mechanisms for persons to do courses offline.
The release said that the pilot programme will focus on soft skills related to Heavy Duty Equipment Operation (HDEO), Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Plumbing, General Building Construction, Welding and Fabrication, Masonry, and Furniture Making.
