The letter writer is peeved that NIS pension increase announced in Budget 2024 benefits only a segment of this citizenry, (SN Feb 2). The increase announced was for the minimum pension. It is obvious from the tone of the letter, the writer is baffled as to why over the minimum pension was not increased. The writer states 2019 as being the last year the minimum pensioners received an increase. Over the minimum pension increase, I believe, will have to be approved by the Board, who will have to examine any increase and ability of the agency to sustain the increase. In the meantime over the minimum pensioners continue to hope.
