A brilliant innings from Shelton Ramsey propelled Achievers B to a four-wicket victory over home side and arch-rival D’ Edward in the final of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Anil Lalsa 2nd Division T20 Championship.
Batting first, the home side recorded 165/6 in their allotted overs. Altaf Khan top scored with 86 [4x6s, 7x4s], as he held together the innings following meagre scores of 12, 12, nine, nine, and seven, respectively, from the quintet of M. Persaud, Derek Larsa, Harilall Bridgelall, L. Lalsa, and Zaheer Nasir.
For the bowling side, Andre Dutchin recorded figures of 4/18, while Titus Webster and Nickel Fraser snared one wicket each. In response, Achievers B achieved their target of 166/6 in 18.4 overs, with Ramsey leading the pursuit with a brilliant 68. Supporting him with an unbeaten 29 was Odell Miller, while Michael Fraser chipped in with 25 runs.
Due to the outcome, Achievers B walked away with the championship trophy and $100,000, while the second-place outfit received $50,000 and the corresponding accolade. A total of 14 teams competed in the tournament, while 90 are projected to participate in the national edition.
