Carpenter gets nine years for fatal cuff to wife who was dancing with another

Port Kaituma carpenter Tyron James has been sentenced to nine years imprisonment for the 2018 killing of his reputed wife, Evadnee Baptiste, with whom he became enraged after seeing her dancing with another man.

The sentence was handed down yesterday at the High Court in Demerra by Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry following the presentation of probation and other social impact reports.

The Judge has ordered that James participate in vocational training provided by the prison and also that the penal authorities grant remission from the nine-year sentence, for the time he spent on remand awaitng sentence.
