Thirty-six year old Rakesh Arjun appeared before Magistrate Rhondel Weever at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with larceny.
It was alleged that on January 19, 2024, at Lot 109, Barrack Street, Kingston, he stole one solar light valued $18,000 Guyana dollars.
According to the prosecution, when the complainant checked their CCTV footage they discovered Arjun climbing the building and removing the light. He was arrested and told of the offence. The court was told that Arjun was no stranger to the law since he was charged and sentenced to three weeks community service back in December 2023 for a similar offence.
After pleading guilty to the offence, the court considered the fact that Arjun was convicted for similar offences and within a month after serving one sentence committed another offence. As a result, he was sentenced to three months imprisonment.
