President Irfaan Ali yesterday received the Letters of Credence from Bengü Yiğitgüden accrediting her as Turkish Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Guyana. The ceremony was held at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.

The Head of State called for enhanced bilateral cooperation between the two countries while indicating his desire for the Republic of Türkiye to support the building of the manufacturing sector in Guyana, a release from the Office of the President said.

He lauded Turkey’s technological drive and noted that Guyana can benefit from its continuous development.

Guyana and Turkey established diplomatic relations on May 2, 1973.
