On Monday, Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers conducted an operation in the No. 65 Village Corentyne, Berbice area where they hold two men over a large amount of cannabis.
A CANU statement yesterday said that they intercepted a motor car which after a search revealed three large parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
Abdool Shakoor, age 33 years of Lot 36, No.78 Village Corriverton, Berbice, and Yogindra Bheemsingh, age 33 years of Bank Road Corriverton, Berbice, were arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic which tested positive for cannabis and weighed 64.6 kilogrammes.
Investigations are ongoing.
