Julia Badal, Salih Ali, Zareezyah Levans, and Roger Peroune were among the standout performers when the Guyana Shotokan Association staged its National Karate Championships on Sunday at the YMCA Dojo, Thomas Lands.
In the Female 11-14 Years – Green-Purple Pool, Julia Badal bested Zuriyah Howell and Rachel Seymour to win both the Kumite and Kata titles. Howell and Seymour finished in the order of second and third, respectively, in both sections. On the other hand, in the Male 5-8 Years – Green-Purple category, Salih Ali secured the top spot in the Kumite and Kata categories. Wayne Browne and Eric Lynch finished second and third, respectively, in the Kumite aspect, while the duo swapped places in the Kata section.
In the Male 11-12 Years – Brown-Black division, Zareezyah Levans emerged victorious in the Kumite and Kata sections. Christopher Cooblall finished second in both segments.
Meanwhile, in the Male 21-39 Years – Brown-Black section, Roger Peroune copped the top spot in both the Kumite and Kata segments. David Melville finished as the runner-up in both sections.
Also, Keith Beaton emerged as the winner in the Kumite and Kata segments of the Male 40-49 Years – Brown-Black division. Below is the complete list of results.
