Shemaine Campbell to captain the Guyana Women’s Cricket team

Experienced campaigner and West Indies star Shemaine Campbell will captain the Guyana women’s national Super50 and T20 teams ahead of the upcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) regional tournaments.

Following the conclusion of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) competitions on Saturday, the selectors announced the full 14-woman squad over the weekend, including reserves and coaching staff.

Campbell will have a number of talented players at her disposal, including a number of current West Indies players. The likes of openers Mandy Mangru and Realeanna Grimmond, spinners Ashmini Munisar, Plaffiana Millington, Kaycia Schultz, and others will play a huge role in the team’s progression.

Windies seamer Cherry-Ann Fraser, along with recent stars in the inter-county like Trisha Hardat, Cyanna Retimiah, and Sheneta Grimmond, will add to the experience and form of both teams.

The Guyana women’s team comprises Mandy Mangru, Realeanna Grimmond, Naomi Barkoye, Shemaine Campbell (captain), Ashmini Munisar, Sheneta Grimmond, Plaffiana Millington, Shabika Gajnabi, Cherry-Ann Fraser (vice-captain), Kaycia Schultz, Niya Latchman, Trisha Hardat, Yonette Welcome, and Cyanna Retimiah. On the other hand, the standby players are: Letisha Jordan, Melanie Dover, Crystal Durant, Roshanna Harper, Tilleya Madramootoo, Nikesha Narine, Luerene Williams, and Nidia Andrew.

On the management side, Clive Grimmond will serve as the head coach, while Tremayne Smartt and Natisha Mokutnauth will act in the capacities of manager and physiotherapist, respectively.
