The Guyana Harpy Eagles will be captained by returning wicketkeeper batsman Tevin Imlach from their third round West Indies 4-Day Championship match against the West Indies Academy, which begins today in Antigua and Barbuda at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.
He takes over from middle-order batsman Kevlon Anderson, who skippered the side in the opening two games. Anderson will now be Imlach’s deputy.
The Harpy Eagles, who are the defending champions, have had a torrid start to their campaign as the first match against the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force was abandoned following rain, which resulted in the outfield being unsuitable for play, while the Leeward Islands Hurricanes inflicted a heavy 273-run defeat on the reigning champions in their second round encounter.
The Guyanese will be hoping for a change of fortune with the return of Imlach and frontline spinner Gudakesh Motie, who have replaced Steven Sankar and Richie Looknauth.
The match against the West Indies Academy is slated to begin at 10 a.m. today and will be live-streamed via the Windies YouTube channel.
