Stabroek Ballers emerged as the winner of the Mash Street-ball Championship, defeating Festival City on Sunday evening at the National Park tarmac, Thomas Lands.
Following a scoreless regulation time, the Stabroek Ballers prevailed over Festival City 3-2 on penalty kicks. With the result, Stabroek Ballers walked away with $500,000 and the championship trophy, while Festival City pocketed $250,000 and the corresponding accolade.
In the third-place playoff, Back Circle defeated Bent Street 2-1. Due to the outcome, Back Circle walked away with $150,000 and the respective accolade, while Bent Street pocketed $100,000 and a trophy.
In the earlier semi-final section, the Stabroek Ballers defeated Back Circle 3-1 on penalty kicks after full time ended 0-0. On the other hand, Festival City edged Bent Street 1-0. Tavel December found the back of the net in the seventh minute.
In the preceding quarterfinal segment, the Stabroek Ballers, following a scoreless regulation time interval, defeated the Lodge All-Stars 4-3 on sudden death penalty kicks.
Similarly, Festival City bested Unstoppable 2-0 on penalty kicks after normal time ended scoreless.
Also, Back Circle defeated Agricola 2-0 via conversions from Jermaine Beckles and Simeon Moore in the third and 14th minutes, while Bent Street overcame North East La Penitence 1-0 through a Bevney Mark strike in the sixth minute.
