The High Commission of India and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) in Georgetown, Guyana, on Thursday organised a Shraddhanjali to pay tribute to legendary Guyanese singer Mohan Nandu. A release from the SVCC said that Nandu’s sister and other family members, his contemporaries from the cultural fraternity and admirers gathered to pay tribute and remembered his contribution to popularising Indian music in Guyana.
Speaking at the occasion, High Commissioner Dr. Amit Telang offered condolences to Nandu’s family and friends and underlined his contribution towards strengthening the friendship between India and Guyana through his music. Prominent members of the Indian diaspora narrated their experiences of meeting and listening to the songs of Nandu.
