Harpy Eagles dismantle WI Academy to clinch 1st win

Match! Veerasammy Permaul successfully appeals for the dismissal of Johann Layne to secure victory for the Harpy Eagles.

Defending champion, the Guyana Harpy Eagles, thrashed the West Indies Academy by 221 runs yesterday in the third round of the West Indies Four-Day Championship at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua.

Set an imposing 429 for victory, the West Indies Academy, who started the final day precariously perched on 161/7, was only able to add 46 runs to their total, as they were bundled out for 207 in 49.5 overs. The three remaining wickets were shared between fast-bowler Isai Thorne and spinner Veerasammy Permaul.

In pursuit of an improbable 429 for victory, West Indies Academy commenced the final day 161–7, still 268 away from the mammoth target.
