Dear Editor,
It was posited, (again, I might add), ‘tough decisions needed to help Haiti’ (Newsroom Feb 25), in remarks at the opening of the Regular Meeting of CARICOM. At every CARICOM meeting Haiti is the mantra, rallying call. At the end of the meeting Haiti fades from the radar as the status quo returns. It has to be wondered is there the collective CARICOM will to help Haiti, a member state of the bloc? One columnist posited that France and US broke Haiti and they should be the first to mend it (KN Feb 25). Does CARICOM share this view? Is it perhaps why the help that Haiti desperately needs is always slow in coming? Less talk more tangible action is needed on Haiti.
