Son calls for probe into mother’s death at Mabaruma hospital

Chris Debideen, the son of a 46-year-old woman who died on February 14th, 2024 at the Mabaruma Regional Hospital hours after delivering a baby, is venting his dissatisfaction on social media about the quality of service offered by the doctor to his mother before, during and after the birth of her baby.

Dead is Zeleena Debibeen of Region One.

When Stabroek News spoke to Chris this week, he said that his mother’s delivery was  normal. He said it was after his mother underwent surgery that he learnt that she was suffering from internal bleeding. He said though the doctor claimed that he didn’t induce delivery, the said doctor later admitted to administering a  tablet. He also said that the doctors had enough time to medevac his mother to the Georgetown Public Hospital but didn’t.
