The mother of Eon Holder, the victim of the Bourda Market fatal shooting last Saturday, is demanding justice for her son.
The bereaved woman, 69-year-old Muriel Holder, told Stabroek News on Wednesday that she is still coming to grips with the fact that her son is no longer with her. “Police told me nothing. They said they are not seeing no face in the footage that it is blurry [and] that was since last week. They still have not called me back.”
A tearful Holder said she needs justice for her child while recounting the last day she spoke to her son. “The 19th of February was the last time we spoke. He was doing some construction and he came home to ask for some food and he bought me a juice. The next time I saw my son he was lying on the ground.”
She described her son as someone who was peaceful and never got in the way of others. “My son don’t find himself in problem; he don’t trouble anyone.” She related that all she knows is that an argument ensued over a parking spot and that it should have never resulted into him being shot. “How would you feel if that was your brother or sister, father or mother? Imagine how I am feeling right now.”
The police have issued no official statement regarding the identity of the shooter(s), but Holder is adamant that he must be found. “I don’t wish them anything bad, I just want justice!”
Holder noted that the day after the post-mortem examination was conducted on her son, she was instructed to go to the police and while there she recalled the CID officials behaving in a strange manner towards her. However, she says she will not be discouraged by this and will continue to press for justice for her son.
