Dear Editor,
Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) president Patrick Yarde under duress issued an ultimatum on the PPP government in relation to the teacher’s strike. That was more than a week ago. Yarde, after issuing that ultimatum, went straight to bed and fell asleep. He is yet to wake up. Generally, gifts are free gestures of love and appreciation but gifts from the regime comes with a price.
Can someone shake Patrick gently so he can open his eyes, rub them and yawn? Rise up, ‘Yardie’ and don’t be worried. The trick is to turn your phone off or better, block Jagdeo’s number so he can’t contact you and remind you of your obligation to the PPP and not the GPSU. Hubert Nathaniel Critchlow can’t wake up but I know he must be turning in his grave. He is the father of the trade union movement or what is left of it. The Guyana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) is moving to the courts on behalf of the teachers. Will you live up to your ultimatum, Pato? Activate, Pato. Activate!
Sincerely,
Norman Browne
