The late apology to his rigging statement rings hollow

Dear Editor,

The late apology, only after a news agency sought an explanation to his rigging statement, (SN Feb 29), rings hollow and seems sheepish. If he were serious about offering an apology for the inexcusable statement then an advertisement in all the newspapers would have more meaningful and powerful that the one proffered, which appears to have been dragged out. The claim that the former PM turned mayor never rigged or supported the rigging of any elections is also hard to believe and is as empty as fake news. He may believe that in his twilight years but for the vast many of us who lived through his rein, he benefitted from that which he said he never supported.

Sincerely,

Shamshun Mohamed
