Windsor Forest ‘A’, West Demerara, and All Youths recorded contrasting wins when the West Demerara Cricket Association sanctioned ‘Jits and Neelam’ 40-over Cricket Championship continued on Sunday.
Windsor Forest ‘A’ thrashed the Meten-Meer-Zorg Defenders by 206 runs at the Canal Sports Club ground. Batting first, Windsor Forest ‘A’ amassed 269/9 in their 40 overs. Sachin Balgobin tallied 100 (13x4s, 1×6). It was his second consecutive century in the event.
Balgobin was supported by Chaitram Nauth, Deoram Chanderbir, Kellon Tracey, and Arvin Suknanan, who scored 31, 30, 29, and 20 runs apiece.
In response, the Defenders were skittled for 63 in 24.2 overs. Faraz Baksh and Nicholas Junior top scored with 14 and 12 runs apiece. Lalta Suknanan recorded 3-10 in 5.2 overs to help engineer the collapse, which was supported by Kishaun Tracey and Avinash Ganesh, who snared 3-13 and 2-13, respectively.
Meanwhile, West Demerara Legends defeated Windsor Forest in a reduced 33-over contest by two wickets. Batting first at the West Meten-Meer-Zorg ground, Windsor Forest recorded 159/8 in their allotment. Yuidishir Parbudeen top scored with 76 (10x4s, 1×6) while Dindyal Guyadeen and Dhaniram Azamudeen added 23 and 18 runs, respectively. Vinod Rajkumar was the pick of the bowlers, with 3-27 in seven overs.
In response, the West Demerara Legends scored 160/8 in 32.5 overs. Hemendra Kowlessar led the way with an unbeaten 33, while Jitendra Kishour, Azeem Khan, and Arshad Alli supported with 29, 25, and 21 runs, respectively. Mohammed Wazidali and Faoud Bacchus tallied 3-29 and 2-19, respectively, with the ball.
At the Zeelugt Ground, All Youths defeated Cold Fusion by 17 runs in a reduced 30-over contest. Batting first, All Youths scored 198, with Krishna Ramjattan and Ram Tulsie scoring 40 runs apiece. Adding 19 and 18 runs were Sanjay Persaud and Kevin Seaman, respectively.
Keith Forest and Keon Alexander were the primary threats with the ball, as they tallied 2-40 and 2-41, respectively. In reply, Cold Fusion was dismissed for 181 in 28 overs. Ramesh Ramsundar recorded a fighting 55 (2x6s, 7x4s). Sanjay Persaud recorded 4-51 with the ball, while Shahid Haniff supported with 2-41.
