The Demerara Cricket Board’s (DCB) Inter-Association U-19 50-over tournament will bowl off today with a double-header as the DCB begins their process for selecting their U-19 squad for the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Inter-County competitions.
The tournament will see five associations from Demerara; the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), Upper Demerara Cricket Association (UDCA), West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA), East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA) and East Coast Demerara Cricket Association (ECDCA), all head into battle over the next week. Today’s matches will see the GCA team head across to West Coast Demerara to play the WDCA side at the Meten-Meer-Zorg Community Ground while the East Coast lads will host their East Bank counterparts at Lusignan on the East Coast of Demerara. Both matches are slated to begin at 9:30 am. According to a press release from the DCB, the tournament is “the main yardstick to be used by the selection panel to select the Demerara team for the GCB Inter County Under 19 Tournament”.
Additionally, the DCB noted that the tournament will be branded under Trophy Stall, Ramchand’s Auto Spares, Ariel Enterprise, Rohan Auto Spares, Steve’s Jewelry, Petama Enterprise, Motor Trend, Cricket Equipment Guyana, General Marines, Terry Mathura and Raj Mathura, who have all thrown their support behind the tournament in the form of sponsorship.
