Dear Editor,
I wish to commend all the winners at the recent Guyana Prize for Literature. Writing, especially creative writing, is an art that needs to be encouraged especially in this digital age where computer literacy is gradually replacing the so-called three Rs -Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. The Guyana Government, in particular the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports must be commended for the emphasis it is placing on the promotion of arts and culture in Guyana. Our recent Mashramani celebrations have demonstrated that our creativity and cultural expressions are alive and kicking.
