Guyanese basketball player loses on collegiate circuit

Israel Yaw

Guyanese national basketball player Israel Yaw and his school, the University of Maryland, went down to Howard University 66-70 on Saturday evening at the Hytche Centre in Princess Anne, Maryland.

In 23 minutes of play, Yaw recorded commendable figures of three points, five rebounds, and a steal but couldn’t prevent the hard-fought loss.

With the recent results, his team’s record climbs to 8-18. The former Plaisance Guardians standout is slated to return to action against Norfolk State University.

Yaw had previously attended ASA College and appeared in 22 matches. He averaged 12.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game during his junior-collegiate career.
