Quiko, a village located in the South Central Rupununi, Region Nine, has embarked on large-scale cash crop production, a release yesterday from the Department of Public Information (DPI) said.

This achievement has been made possible through the provision of $9 million under the Carbon Credit programme, DPI said.

The four-acre savannah farm was commissioned on Monday by the Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai.

This farm will enable the cultivation of  crops such as sweet peppers, bora, eschallot, and watermelon, among other varieties of crops.
