A fisherman who was last seen alive on a boat moored at Jib, Essequibo Coast was found dead yesterday morning in the sea.
The police said in a report that the death of Mahindra Persaud, 23, of Lot 259 Devonshire Castle Back Street, Essequibo Coast occurred sometime between Wednesday 6th March, 2024 at about 8 pm and Thursday 7th March, 2024 at about 6 am.
The police say that according to Paishwarlall Chattergoon, 55, a boat captain, on Tuesday 5th March, at about 11 am, he, Persaud and Johnny Toro, a fisherman of Lot 80 Jib, left and went to sea to catch fish. However, the boat broke down and had to be towed by another boat which is owned by the Paishwarlall.
