After opening their campaign with two wins in as many games in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) CG United Women’s Super50 Cup, Guyana were handed a four-wicket defeat by their Barbados counterparts who put on an exceptional all-round display at the St. Paul’s Sports Complex Ground in St. Kitts yesterday.
After bowling out the Guyanese women for just 128 after they had won the toss and elected to bat, the Bajans survived a scare to get home with four wickets to spare courtesy of opener Kycia Knight’s unbeaten 69.
Guyana’s skipper Shemaine Campbell led the way for her team making a defiant 53 off 84 deliveries while all-rounder Cherry-Ann Fraser continued to show her ability with the bat, finishing as the next best scorer with 24 while Shabika Gajnabi (10) was the only other batter to reach double figures as Guyana folded on 128 all out in 37.1 overs.
