Safirah Sumner, Ethan Bulkan, and Zion Hickerson were among the winners when the Woodpecker Squash Championship continued last night at the Georgetown Club Facility, Camp Street.
Safirah Sumner brushed aside Malia Maikoo 11-3, 11-7, and 11-4 in the girl’s U-19 section. Bulkan defeated Matthew Daby 11-1, 11-2, 11-5. The contest served as the match for both the boy’s U-13 and U-15 divisions, respectively.
Bulkan also bested Justin Goberdhan 9-11, 12-10, 3-11, 11-7, 11-9, and Brenno Da Silva 11-7, 11-7, 2-11, 11-5 in the U-15 division.
Meanwhile, Hickerson recorded two wins in the U-11 boy’s segment. He defeated Noah Kear-Downes 11-0, 11-3, 11-6, and Ingram Edwards 11-3, 11-0, 11-0. The event continues today at the same venue with another round of matches.
