Riddim Squad and Santos will contest the final of the Georgetown Football Association Pre-Season Championship following semi-final wins at the Georgetown Football Club ground in Bourda.
Riddim Squad overcame Eastveldt 2-1 in their semi-final fixture. Akeem Farley broke the deadlock in favour of Eastveldt as he found the back of the net in the 20th minute. The conversion emanated from a counterattack, as the resulting cross from the right side was controlled by the forward, who slotted into the back of the net.
However, Sceyon Hope equalised in the 45th minute. Receiving a cross from a corner kick that evaded the back line, Hope, after controlling the ball, slotted into the back of the net from inside the right of the 18-yard area.
The come-from-behind win was then sealed in the 57th minute, as Kacy John made his presence felt. The substitute forward, upon racing onto a through pass, dribbled the onrushing defender before slamming his effort into the far corner from inside the penalty area.
Meanwhile, Santos edged Vengy 4-2 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended at 2-2. Prior to the conclusion of the match, Vengy raced to an initial 2-0 lead. Bryan James opened the scoring in the 15th minute.
Francisco Hernandez then made his presence felt as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 35th minute. However, two goals in the space of 13 minutes from Aeon Daniels restored parity to proceedings.
Daniels reduced the deficit with a 45th-minute conversion. He then completed his brace as he thumped his effort into the back of the net in the 58th minute. The final is set for Sunday at the same venue. On the other hand, the losing semi-finalists will compete in the third-place playoff.
