The defending champions of the John Lewis Memorial 7s Rugby tournament, the Guyana Police Force (GPF), launched their title defence in fine style, winning four of their five round robin games yesterday at the Rugby Field in the National Park.

The champions dismantled the Hornets 24-12, saw off a staunch challenge from GDF in a 14-10 win, and handed the Panthers and Hornets (2nd match) 26-10 and 20-0 losses. However, in their second fixture against GDF, the police came up short as the army men prevailed 19-15 to register their only win of the day.
