Safirah Sumner, Nicholas Verwey, and Louis Da Silva secured divisional titles in their respective divisions when the Woodpecker Squash Championship concluded yesterday at the Georgetown Club facility, Camp Street.
Sumner won both the girl’s U-17 and U-19 titles to solidify her status as an emerging star on the local circuit. Finishing in second and third, respectively, in both segments were Rylee Rodrigues and Kaylee Lowe.
On the other hand, Verwey won the boy’s U19 division, defeating the challenges of Michael Alphonso and Louis Da Silva, who finished second and third, respectively.
In the boy’s U-17 pool, Da Silva secured the gold, ahead of silver and bronze medal finishers Shiloh Asregado and Joshua Verwey, respectively.
Meanwhile, Zion Hickerson reigned supreme in the boy’s U-11 segment, relegating Rafael Braithwaite and Noah Kear-Downes to second and third, respectively.
In the Girl’s U-13 segment, Zoey McDonald took the top spot ahead of second-place finisher Tehani Munroe and third-place finisher Tandisa Munroe.
On the other hand, Ethan Bulkan won the boy’s U-13 section ahead of Hickerson and Egan Bulkan, who finished second and third, respectively.
In the girl’s U-15 section, Kaylee Lowe emerged victorious, while Emily Fung-A-Fat and Jnae Singh finished second and third, respectively.
Also, Justin Ten-Pow emerged as the boy’s U-15 champion, ahead of Richard Rodrigues and Ethan Bulkan in that order.
