Guyana lost their first match in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Women’s T20 Blaze, going down to Jamaica by five wickets last evening at Warner Park, Basseterre, St. Kitts, and Nevis.
Batting first, the Guyanese, who defeated Trinidad and Tobago in their opening encounter, posted 107/7 in their allotment. Mandy Mangru top scored with 36, while Captain Shemaine Campbelle supported with 33. The next-best scorer with 13 was Shabika Gajnabi.
In reply, the Jamaicans romped to 108/5 in 18.1 overs. R. Williams led the chase with 42 runs, while Stafanie Taylor recorded 33 runs. Guyana will return to the field tomorrow against the Leeward Islands.
