Kenford Gordon, a 26-year-old miner, was arrested on Monday afternoon during a Police ‘stop and search’ exercise at Mango Landing, Region #7, after he was found to be in possession of 52.6 grams of suspected marijuana.
The police say that Gordon was a passenger in a Route #72 minibus (# BAD 9554), which was stopped by the Police, who searched the vehicle, driver, and passengers.
Gordon had in his possession a haversack, which, when searched, was found to contain a transparent plastic-wrapped parcel with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
Gordon was shown the narcotic, and he was told of the offence committed and cautioned. He replied, “My father fell off a truck, and I borrowed this bag and caught the bus to Georgetown.”
The haversack also contained clothing, footwear, and personal items that Gordon claimed ownership of. The narcotic, when weighed, amounted to 52.6 grams, police said. Gordon was placed in custody pending further investigations.
