Defending champion, the Guyana Harpy Eagles, led by a half-century from Kevin Sinclair and useful contributions from the lower order, posted a first-inning total of 308 against the league leader, the Windward Islands Volcanoes, when the Cricket West Indies 4-Day Championship continued yesterday.
Staged at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua and Barbuda, Sinclair held the innings together as he recorded 74. Kevlon Anderson fell two runs short of a half century as he was the next best scorer for a top order that continues to struggle despite getting starts.
However, a rearguard effort led by Gudakesh Motie was pivotal in Guyana reaching their eventual total. Motie continues to display quality with the bat as he recorded 46 runs, while fellow spinner Veerasammy Permaul played a cameo of 30. Also contributing 22 and 20 runs apiece were Ronaldo Alimohamed and Nial Smith.
