Dear Editor
The advertisement for the Phagwah Fete billed for March 25, promises to be the hottest party of the season with calls to paint the town wet and wild (GDN). ‘Hottest party’; ‘wet and wild’ are these the concepts of a religious observance? Just asking. Do the promoters even understand the religious significance of Phagwah or is it an excuse to fete and get wet and wild? Is the wet concept being misused and misunderstood? From the poster online it does not seem the religious aspect will be observed with any decorum and respect. The Hindu community ought to feel outraged at this affront to one of its significant religious observances.
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
