Ravens won the inaugural ‘One Guyana’ Basketball League, defeating Eagles 76-63 in game three to prevail 2-1 in the series at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue Saturday evening. Locked 15-15 at the end of the first quarter, the Ravens seized control of the contest in the second stanza, scoring 22 points while restricting the Eagles to 15 points to enter the halftime interval ahead at 37-30.
Following the resumption of play, the Ravens extended their advantage in the third quarter, as they outscored the Eagles 19-14 to enter the final period in a commanding position at 56-44. The title was then sealed as the Ravens outhustled the Eagles 20-19.
Dominic Vicente top-scored for the Ravens with 22 points, while the experienced Darcel Harris, Owan Walton, and Seranol Clarke chipped in with 14, 12, and 10 points, respectively. For the loser, Travis Belgrave tallied 15 points, while the trio of Denzel Ross, Michael Richards, and Rolston Richmond supported him with 13, 12, and 12 points, respectively. With the result, the Ravens will pocket $1,000,000 and the championship trophy, while the loser will receive $500,000. The tournament was a collaboration between the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport (MCY&S) and G-Boats Incorporated.
