Rivers View, Potaro, and AK Galaxy secured contrasting victories when the ExxonMobil Regatta Football Championship commenced on Saturday evening at the Bartica Community Centre ground.
Rivers View swamped Middle Mazaruni 5-1. Andre Simmons crafted a helmet trick in the 26th, 52nd, 80th, and 90th minutes, while Omario Lake scored in the 86th minute. On target in the loss were Brandon Solomon and Kyron Wilkie in the 76th and 81st minutes, respectively.
On the other hand, the Potaro Strikers edged the Rising Stars 2-1. Shane Jones and Daniel Gardener scored in the 15th and 62nd minutes, respectively. For the loser, Joshua Jones scored in the 22nd minute.
Similarly, AK Galaxy edged the Wolves 5-3 on penalty kicks after full time ended 1-1. Prior to the aforesaid conclusion, Ryan Andries netted for AK Galaxy in the 65th minute, while Malcolm Augustus netted for the Wolves in the 79th minute.
