Opening round washed out due to torrential rainfall

The highly anticipated start to the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars U-15 50-overs competition yesterday had to be abandoned due to torrential rainfall in Antigua and Barbuda.

The rain forced officials to abandon all three matches across the island as the playing surfaces were inundated. Guyana, which was slated to face Barbados in their opening encounter, will now set their sights on tomorrow’s assignment, Trinidad and Tobago, at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.

Rounds three and four will both be played at the Bethesda Ground on March 30th and April 1st, respectively, with Guyana coming up against Jamaica and the Windward Islands.

Following those matches, Guyana will head back to Liberta to face the Leeward Islands. All matches will bowl off at 9:30am.

The Guyana U-15 squad reads: Parmeshwar Ram, Justin Dowlin, Darvir Seegobin, Emmanuel Lewis (V/C), Adrian Hetmyer (C), Rovaldo Pereira, Richard Ramdeholl, Khush Seegobin, Sohail Mohammed (W/K), Shamar Apple, Brandon Henry, Gilbert Griffith, Jathniel Nurse, and Arif Khan.
