Planes purchased from India arrive

The two Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)-manufactured Dornier 228 planes from India acquired for the Guyana Defence Force arrived at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport this evening on two Boeing C-17 Globemaster military transport planes.

Two Venezuelans were held over huge cocaine seizure at Vergenoegen

Following the publication issued by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on the 29th March, 2024, regarding the seizure of 536 kilogrammes or 1,181 pounds of cocaine, that occurred during a joint operation involving the GDF Coast Guard and CANU at Vergenoegen, Essequibo-Island West Demerara,  two Venezuelan males were apprehended in connection with the matter.

GFF dismisses Anns Grove’s appeal against Western Tigers for fielding ineligible player

-says player can be considered ‘outside agent’ The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has dismissed an appeal by Anns Grove United Football Club (AGUFC) against Western Tigers Football Club (WTFC) for fielding an ineligible player, stating that following an extensive investigation, the player in question, Rondell Peters, despite not being on the match-day roster, is a member of the team’s roster and can be considered an “outside agent.”

Dear Editor, One of my colleagues told me that he went to the Central Housing and Planning Authority on 28th March to look after an urgent matter and arrived at approximately 1.30 pm but was told by the security guard that the agency was closed for business since around 1200 noon for a “function.” 

Criticism

The government is not accustomed to responding to investigative questioning, let alone criticism from outside entities.

Tips for a smooth holiday season

Holidays are weirdly tortuous when you are an immigrant. It almost feels like an endless marathon, trying to recreate the magic of the holidays that you were once accustomed to,   knowing fully well it will culminate with feeling a profound sense of loss sandwiched in droplets of happiness and disappointment at having yet another season come around and still not managing to get it quite right.
