Guyana’s 2024 Carifta Games campaign in Grenada at the Kirani James got off to a ‘Golden’ start yesterday as Tianna Springer, Malachi Austin, and Athaleyah Hinckson all produced gold medals in their respective events.

Springer, who won the U-17 400m last year, added the U-20 Gold to her burgeoning trophy cabinet with a personal best in the 400m, fending off the Jamaican pair of Abigail Campbell and Shanque Williams en route to gold.

Springer produced a barnstorming 52.31s, while Campbell (52.85s) and Williams (53.05s) had to settle for silver and bronze, respectively.
