The Ministry of Agriculture is currently seeking consulting services for the final evaluation of the Sustainable Agriculture Development Programme (SADP). This programme, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank, aims to increase agricultural productivity in a sustainable and climate-resilient manner in Guyana.
In a “Request for Expression of Interest” notice posted in yesterday’s paper, the ministry explained that the consultancy services will involve assessing the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of the SADP. The evaluation will focus on the programme’s impact on enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable resource management, and economic growth.
According to the notice, evaluation is expected to be carried out in Georgetown and various coastal regions of Guyana. It further stated that consultants interested in submitting expressions of interest must have experience in final project evaluations, as well as working with farmers. The Ministry of Agriculture plans to shortlist a maximum of six firms based on their qualifications and experience.
Interested consulting firms are invited to submit their expressions of interest, in English, by April 10 to Project Coordinator, Agriculture Sector Development Unit, Regent Street and Vlissengen Road, Georgetown. The notice warned that late proposals will not be considered for selection.
The consultancy is expected to begin in July and the consultant(s) will report to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture.
