(Trinidad Guardian) Officers of the North Central Division Major Crimes Unit, led by Sgt Thomas, later arrested the suspect, who had been locked in an apartment.
The dead men were identified as Imtiaz Mohammed, 46, and his son, Imraz Mohammed, 23.
The victims, along with the suspect, all lived at Building 16, Fourth Avenue, Oropune Gardens, Piarco.
Meanwhile, Imtiaz’s 17-year-old daughter and her male companion, aged 19, of Building 15, were also injured during the bloody attack.
Reports indicate yesterday’s incident stemmed from a disagreement on Friday night between the victims and the suspect at Building 16.
It was alleged the two groups had engaged in a war of words, which led to the gathering breaking up on Friday night.
However, a heated exchange continued during mid-morning yesterday, following which the suspect allegedly armed himself with an ice pick and stabbed Imtiaz several times in the back.
As residents rushed to Imtiaz’s aid, a churchgoer volunteered to take him to the hospital and left with the injured man.
It is alleged that at this point, the suspect then armed himself with a nine-inch-long knife and began stabbing Imraz about the body, injuring his sister and her boyfriend, who attempted to intervene.
As residents sought to subdue the suspect, he was dragged into the apartment of another resident at Building 16 and locked inside until the police arrived.
Imraz died at the scene, while Imtiaz died at the hospital.
The other victims were treated at the hospital for injuries while the suspect was later taken to the hospital for medical attention.
