Spankhurst continued its dominance on the local horse racing circuit as it sped to an impressive win yesterday at the Port Mourant Turf Club Easter Cup.
Piloted by Colin Ross, Spankhurst stormed to the first place prize of $2,000,000 unchallenged, relegating Stolen Money, Jessica’s Pride, and Cremore to second, third, and fourth place, respectively.
In the G&L Lower and West Indies, the first-time starter, American Traveler, who had initially prevailed over Soca Harmony, was disqualified by the stewards for interference on the first turn. Thus, Soca Harmony was adjudged the winner, while Coup D’état and She Will Be on Time ended in second and third place, respectively.
In the J & Lower race, Haley won, while Tizway, Black Time, and Shake the Bank finished second, third, and fourth, respectively.
Meanwhile, Hecho Con Amor won the E-Class event. Glorious Business and Phil at Echo finished second and third, respectively.
In the L Open and J3 Maiden races, Top Gun prevailed, while Risk Affair, Princess Sasha, and Get Them Baby ended in second, third, and fourth, respectively.
In the three-year-old Guyanese bred category, Star Fire Gold copped the top spot, while Country Rock, Regal Surprise, and She’s a Monica rounded out the top four in that order.
In the H and Lower races, Here Comes Heidi won, while Amicable Kate, Red Ruby, and Theory of Colours finished in second, third, and fourth place, respectively. The next race meet will be staged on April 28th at the Rising Sun Turf Club.
